Travel Requirements

Before you travel

Review passport, visa, entry authorization, and traveler documentation requirements before your trip. Requirements may vary by destination, nationality, residency status, and supplier policy.

Overview

Having the correct travel documents is essential for a smooth trip. Each traveler is solely responsible for identifying, obtaining, and presenting all documents required for their itinerary, including passports, visas, transit visas, residency permits, health or entry forms, and electronic travel authorizations where applicable.

Requirements may differ depending on citizenship, destination, route, supplier rules, and whether the reservation includes flights, hotels, cruises, or vacation packages.

Key travel documents

Passports

For most international travel, a valid passport is required. Some destinations may require the passport to remain valid for several months beyond the return date and to contain blank pages.

Visas

Some countries require a visa before entry, and certain itineraries may also require transit visas. Travelers must confirm all visa rules before departure.

ESTA / ETA / entry authorization

Some destinations require electronic pre-travel authorization such as ESTA or ETA. Applications may need to be completed before boarding.

Requirement details

International travel often requires a valid passport and, depending on the destination, a visa, transit visa, or electronic travel authorization. Some countries may also request proof of return travel, accommodation details, vaccination records, or other supporting documentation.

Documentation requirements for domestic trips and cruises may differ from international air travel. Cruise lines and other suppliers may apply their own identification and boarding rules in addition to government requirements. Always review the supplier’s documentation policies carefully before travel.

Travelers entering the United States may be required to comply with visa, passport, or Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) rules, depending on nationality and immigration category. Travelers should consult official U.S. government sources before departure.

Additional documents may be required when traveling with minors, especially if one or both parents or legal guardians are not traveling. These may include birth certificates, notarized consent letters, court orders, or other legal documents depending on the destination and circumstances.

Travel documentation and entry requirements may change at any time without prior notice. Travelers are strongly encouraged to verify all requirements again close to departure.
